My campaign is well underway. Here are some of the issues.
All curriculum proposals must be approved by a general vote of teachers in a district.

I support the elimination of minimum grades; in some districts now set at "50"

Districts should be prohibited from implementing "give away" grade policies.

I support the elimination of all punitive measures against teachers resulting from poor student performance on all district and state mandated tests.

Students--by law--should be held to the highest learning standards. Students who refuse to complete assignments will receive a grade of "0" on the assignment.

All curriculum must be taught at grade level. "Dumbing down" curriculum should be strictly forbidden.

I have more to come. What do you think?

Hello. My name is George M. Clayton. I am the Academic Coordinator for North Dallas High School, Dallas, Texas. In two weeks I will be announcing my candidacy for the Texas State Board of Education. I am running because--like many educators--I am tired of a failed system (mis)managed by politicians, for profit test writer and incompetent administrators who spend most of their time blaming teachers for the failures of public schools. Please stay tuned for more. I look forward to hearing from everyone. George
